Who does it affect?

Anxiety problems are very common! In 2013 there were 8.2Mio cases in the UK. It is worth remembering: you are not alone . Looking for someone to speak to but feel embarrassed or ashamed about reaching out? In December 2018 over 14000 people in the UK searched the internet for help on how to feel less anxious, seeking help is becoming increasingly normal!

Anxiety is very often a natural response to everyday situations. Too much of it stops you from enjoying life and yet without it you would not survive very long. Imagine a car approaching a pedestrian crossing at high speed and you are standing there ready to cross. Because you are not feeling anxious about the possibility that the car might not stop, you place one foot in front of the other and get moving.. BANG!!!! You most likely wouldn’t be here now reading this! Perhaps you might still be reading this but surrounded by a swarm of angels or a bunch of cheeky devils as the case may be.

How anxiety feels like

The effects vary from person to person and depend on what types of anxiety you are suffering from. This page is being updated regularly to cover a range of issues that you might be experiencing. Let’s start off with the General Anxiety Disorder or GDA for short.

GDA: Anxiety for no reason

Have you been feeling anxious without a reason for the last six months? Then you are most likely suffering from GDA. Take a look at the following list. If you can tick off most of the effects then your intuition is spot on:

  • Feeling restless
  • Feeling irritable
  • Feeling edgy or fidgety
  • Getting tired very easily
  • Tension in your muscles
  • Struggling to concentrate
  • Can’t sleep
  • Difficulty staying asleep
  • Waking up easily

Who to speak to?

Whether you are looking for a therapist near your area or looking for an online therapist , I have several years of experience working with anxious people and would be happy to speak to you to find out how I can help you.

I offer private counselling in West London (Shepherds Bush, Holland Park, Kensington, Hammermsith, Chiswick, Acton, Willesden, White City) and East London (Borough, London Bridge, City of London, Southwark, Bermondsey, Tower Hill) as well as online counselling and telephone counselling.

I used to be very anxious in the past so I can fully appreciate how difficult it is for you to soothe yourself and try to stay calm. There are days when you try absolutely anything to relax and nothing works and you just keep on worrying. Your mind is running riots and there seems to be no way to rein it in. Naturally everyone’s story is different. Your experience will most probably be different to mine and during counselling the focus will be entirely on you and your needs-not on me!

My training is integrative (Psychosynthesis), which means I can draw on a range of approaches and tailor our sessions to suit your needs so we can tackle the issues that bother you. Working together I can help you get to the bottom of what is causing you to feel anxious and together we can practice techniques to help you self soothe so you can feel calmer. I also have additional training in CBT.
